I have spent a lot of time fitting sound deadening materials to the Offender . Had pleasing results.
I started with half inch dense foam over entire front compartment floor. Noticeable improvement. But this then emphasised the nois from the back . Here I then applied a light rubber like layer to the metal , followed by light insulating foam (like Think Pink , but Green) , finished off by heavy duty carpeting . Big improvement . Engine noise then became prominent. I then lined the underside of the bonnet with thin rubbery material , followed by "Think Green" , and replaced the original bonnet sound proofing over it all. Improved. I now hear the wind and tyre noises ... The battle continues , but I can now live in the car.

After the engine noises became more prominent I began to worry about the stae of the engine (Tdi , 175 000km no previous service record etc) . I followed up on Gurneys earlier advice to have Dupdiesel check the motor out. Results ? Dirk of Dupdiesel reports that this is one of the finest Landy engines he has seen - outstanding condition .

Luck is sometimes on your side.
