Hi Everyone! The CLRC committee wishes everyone a
heartfelt WELCOME to 2009! We wish
everyone happy land-rovering during 2009 with many good surprises in stall for
the year ahead! (By definition nasty
surprises are not surprises – they are crises …) This edition is geared at those with a
sense of humour. Have a look at some of
the articles by our regular and trusted contributors Messrs Pretorius and Makagie. The committee have tried to balance the
outings calendar with weekend away camping trips as well as day runs, catering
for the hardcore bush-campers as well as the new generation plastics (Range
Rovers, Discos etc) …where scratches and dings are not welcome. So have a look and book early to avoid
disappointment. The first Points Event for the year was held
on Sunday 01 February 2009
at the Atlantis sand dune venue. Read
all about it in this issue. From the fuel price perspective, it would
appear that January may well be the best month to do your travelling if you
drive a petrol-fuelled vehicle! At a
coastal price of R5,76 per litre for unleaded petrol, it ain’t gonna get much
cheaper! … In fact it has increased by 61 cents on 04 February. If you drive a diesel fuelled vehicle, then
February might prove to be a good month as the price of diesel fuel has been
reduced by 5 to 6 cents a litre. Now if
we could only do something about those ridiculous Namibian and Botswana National Park entry and accommodation
tariffs! Call for contributions: Please, all reports/submissions are most
welcome. Remember this is our magazine. Note that the deadline is the 20th of each month. If anyone has any relevant photographs,
please forward for inclusion in the newsletter. And lastly, a friendly reminder that CLRC
membership renewal fees are now overdue!
For the same bargain price as last year of R220,00 (yep, 0% Inflation) you are
able to extend your membership by 12 months. That includes competition entry fees for Points Events and a
subscription to the newsletter (whether
you like it or not – ed). You have
until just before the AGM to pay for your continued membership. |
