Hi Everyone!

A couple of weeks to go and this year has seen its rear axle!
Whew, what a rollercoaster ride it’s been!  And the old Chinese saying still holds true: “May you live in interesting times”!

From paying nearly $150 for a barrel of oil 4 months ago to approximately $43 last week, from record share price indices to a recession, from droughts to floods, the only constant we are currently experiencing is CHANGE!

Some of the changes touched our emotions (we are thinking of our members and their families who are experiencing difficult times), some hurt our pockets (certain issues such as credit interest rates and fuel prices hurt more than others) and some affected our dreams.  It remains to be seen what will happen to the world economy and closer to our shared environment – the car market!  What lies ahead for the Tata Rover?  Anyone out there brave enough to make a prediction?

Although the corporate world is playing this festive season very low key, be warned not to drink and drive, the law enforcement agencies are out there to ensure that the roads remain (fairly) safe and they will make an example of you if you are caught over the limit.  And these days it does not require many alcoholic drinks to be over the legal limit!

From the editors seat, I wish everyone a blessed Christmas and may you experience a safe one at that!  My wish is that this will be a time of family closeness, rejoicing and hope for the future.  If you are taking to the roads this holiday, may God bless your chosen path and bring you back safely.  For those who have to work over this period, thank you for keeping the wheels of our economy turning and for providing that essential service.

Please note that due to the 26th December falling on a Friday and therefore part of a long weekend, there will be no formal club Boxing day run this year.

Call for contributions:  Please, all reports/submissions are most welcome.  Remember this is our magazine.  Note that the deadline is the 20th of each month.  If anyone has any relevant photographs, please forward for inclusion in the newsletter.

The next official edition of the newsletter will be published towards the end of January 2009.  However, if the editor receives enough contributions, there might just be a Christmas edition in your stocking …

And lastly, a friendly reminder that CLRC membership renewal fees are now due!
For the same bargain price as last year of R220,00 (yep, 0% Inflation) you are able to extend your membership by 12 months.  That includes competition entry fees for Points Events and a subscription to the newsletter (whether you like it or not – ed)
