Hi Everyone! Pockets of early spring with beautiful wild flowers interspersed with some serious rain seems to be the way Spring 2007 is heralded in! The dam levels are really promising, with the Western Cape dams having an average level of 82.6% (on 13-08-2007) and even the Bergriver dam has had an inflow of about 25.7% (the dam is not even officially open yet). The Misverstand dam is 133,9% full (yes, you have read correctly). Why am I telling you this? The consequences are that there are plenty water crossings to be enjoyed before summer is here! Gurney Blackbeard travelled to Piketberg last weekend and took the backroads via the Berg River and came across many drifts filled with water. Just remember those wading plugs (and to remove them again). Only hiccup is that someone has to clean the Land Rover again! … Still battling to get the Points Event clay out of the Rangie … September safety message: Remember to check and if necessary drain & refill those differentials after having done serious deep water driving. If the oil looks like a pale baby$#!t emulsion, then its time to change it and quickly. And while you're at it, check the electrical wiring and connections. Ask the Van Zyl's (Rory & Brian) how quickly wiring is destroyed when a short occurs. (Read the Hondeklipbaai trip report) … A special congratulations to Geoff and Sule Nannucci on tying the "knot". Here's wishing you many successful "trips & recoveries". And on a serious note, our condolences to Liz Yeadon on the passing away of her father. You are in our prayers. Call for contributions: Please, all reports/submissions are most welcome. Remember this is our magazine. Note that the deadline is the 20th of each month. If anyone has any relevant photographs, please forward for inclusion in the magazine. Till next month, enjoy!
