Hi
Everyone! Our first true Cape
winter experience for many a year is nearing an end. There are still the typical showers, but the
sunshine is winning, so in anticipation of rugby (worldcup), sunny skies,
braaivleis and er … Land Rovers, roll up the sleeves and perform an inspection
of all things outdoors. Check the
vehicle accessories and recovery gear. For those that prefer to hibernate in winter, here's a wake-up call to
make sure all the camping bits are in good condition. The fauna has certainly awoken and there are
stunning driving and photography moments to be experienced! October safety message: Don't hesitate, if your recovery gear is
suspect, replace it! Have a look at the
fire extinguisher service date. For boat
owners the requirement is to have them serviced every year, however there is no
such requirement for 4x4's. Bottomline
is that it is a good practice to have them serviced regularly to ensure that
they will perform as designed when needed! And that 5 year plus old snatch strap - are you sure it is still a
snatch, or has it reverted to being a tow rope only? Check it!!! And congratulations to Neels & Heike Vermaak for
growing the club with the birth of their baby boy! Call for contributions: Please, all reports/submissions are most
welcome. Remember this is our magazine. Note that the deadline is the 20th of each month. If anyone has any relevant photographs,
please forward for inclusion in the magazine. Till next month, enjoy! Herbie Email: herbie.hellstrom@telkomsa.net Telephone 021
