Hi
Everyone! The spring season has quickly changed into early
summer and brought with it plenty of opportunities to explore the beauty of ourWestern Cape
fauna and flora. The CLRC committee can
only urge you to make use of the trail weekends – what better way to experience
our natural heritage, put that Land Rover to good use, honing your offroad
skills and forming friendships while enjoying a family break! Who has been casting a beady eye on the oil
price? Brent crude is trading at $84 a
barrel with talk that it might reach $90+ in the short term. That equates to R3,80 per litre of crude oil
before any processing costs and taxes have been added! This will translate into serious fuel price
hikes and therefore we will have to plan weekend outings etc a little more
careful! … (Glad the Disco is a Tdi …
compared to the Rangie I can now get to an outing AND back on the same tank …). November safety message:
If you intend loading up and travelling over weekends or planning an end of
year tour, please watch that all up weight! Beware of the difference in handling when fully loaded, particularly at
highway speeds! That 2 ton Landy becomes
a 3 ton beast with the concomitant extra distance required to grind to a
halt. Be aware of the behaviour of other
road users as a loaded Land Rover does not enjoy changing direction
suddenly! Whatever you do, do so safely. Call for contributions: Please, all reports/submissions are most
welcome. Remember this is our magazine. Note that the deadline is the 20th of each month. If anyone has any relevant photographs,
please forward for inclusion in the magazine. Till next month, enjoy! Breakfast! … at 06:00 at Josephskraal …
