A good friend of mine was down recently from Dubai and we went out in my Disco to get some pizza for the family. Upon arrival at the local joint we parked next to a very sorted out Disco 1 v8. Anyway, we climbed out of the Landy and walked up to the restaurant and were immediately greeted by the couple who owned the Disco 1. Turns out they had just completed Baviaanskloof and in fact very keen to join the club once we started chatting and they will be receiving their complimentary mag soon. Once we had said our goodbyes my mate admitted to me that since buying his Pajero (ex Defender guy), he no longer has these spontaneous meetings with other Landy owners. Let’s remember guys, we drive a special vehicle that does give us a special connection out there! Flash those lights and wave those hands…its keeps it special. Drove past a very stuck Isuzu the other day. Pulled up and offered to recover him. Soon a Colt stopped; driver hopped out, took one look at the Disco and said, “Well if the Landy Club can’t recover you, then no one can.” He then hopped back into his vehicle and drove off! This month sees a report back on the fun day at Manfred’s Farm, a trip report from Mossel Bay to De Hoop and an awesome story from Andreas, a very well traveled man who has gone places we can only dream of…
