Everyone! Right, the formal business for the year has been
taken care of, so let's enjoy some offroading, camping and socialising
etc. Yep, the AGM has been concluded and
it just remains for me to congratulate everyone. From the committee feedback it was clear that we had
quite an active year. Read all about it
in the chairman's feedback … (oh sorry, I wondered where that blank page came
from that I was handed) … OK, so in the
absence of a formal response, here's the summary: Firstly a special thanks to the organisers of the
AGM (Venessa, Julie, Pietie, Martie, Brian etc), there was more than enough to
eat and drink! The Chairman did his thing and Brian Chitty did the
photographic competition judgement, while the Chief Marshal had the privilege
of handing out all the certificates and trophies. (See Chief Marshals Twist for all the
detail). A real special THANK YOU must go to our intrepid
outings organiser who was also decorated with the 2007 Member Of The Year
(MOTY) award and as a double whammy he was also awarded the BooBoo of the year
(BOBOTY) award! There is an unwritten
rule that committee members are not normally eligible for nomination for these
awards, but unfortunately for Kevin Booth, he just stood out like a sore thumb
in the above-mentioned categories. The
editorial team hopes to have a full retort from Mr Booth in next month's
newsletter (edited version for the sake of the family nature of the newsletter,
of course …) Safety message for the month: READ the roadsigns or face the
consequences! Most signs are there for
our benefit and safety, so heed them and adhere to them … easier if you drive
an older Landy (I was referring to the speed restriction signs …). Watch out for the idiots on the road that do
not read as well as you do! Call for contributions: Please, all reports/submissions are most
welcome. Remember this is our magazine. Note that the deadline is the 20th of each month. If anyone has any relevant photographs,
please forward for inclusion in the newsletter. Please view the changes to the club calendar due to the new public
