Hi Everyone! Here's to a promising start to the year 2008! May you and your Landy get to explore routes and areas that you have only heard of! Alternatively, if you prefer the peace and quiet, all you have to do when the next electricity load shedding hits you at home, is to pull the Landy into the driveway, take out the gas stove and armchair and chill out right there in suburbia! The middle of January water weekend was a success as usual, everyone enjoying themselves to the extent that they decided! Some just had more mopping up to do after the river run - once again it became clear that petrol V8's don't take kindly to splashing water in the engine bay … The provisional club calendar is available and is still open to influence, so if you have a specific spot that you wish the club to visit, speak to Kevin Booth. Please diarise the date for the Annual General Meeting. It is scheduled for 05 March 2008. See the "Upcoming Club Events" section for details. Safety message for the month: Just a reinforcement of the Points Event requirements which make sense for all club outings: Please ensure that you have adequate (read: very strong so as to handle the force required to rescue a laden stranded Land Rover …) recovery points front AND rear. Your towball is not an adequate recovery point. Please ensure that you have a towrope and/or snatch rope / strap as well as suitably strong shackles in your recovery kit. Congratulations to the club members who participated in the Challenge Club Series. We were represented in the production and modified classes. Just wondering how come Patrick lifted 1st prize as co-driver in Class B while the driver only finished 4th … eh Mike? Call for contributions: Please, all reports/submissions are most welcome.
