immobilizer

 HI

I was just wondering if anyone has 'unplugged' their immobilizer  on the td5 90 before? I couldn't start mine the other day, and had to a buy a new battery @R50, I hate it when you know you are paying way way too much, but you do not have a choice in the matter, anyway, one of my friends has an old Isuzu that he just 'unplugged' and now no more worries. Anyway I bought a sheet of 5 of those batteries with a shelf life of 7 years for R20.00 from a friend with an electrical supply store. So I should be good for a while;) But what if you loose the remote or the battery dies somewhere in the bush? So if anyone can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Jean

Re: immobilizer

 Hi Jean

I believe that the immobiliser can be switched off if you have access to a computer diagnostics system , such as Choice , Testbook or Nanocom.

LR Services will be able to do , or Marius of Savannah Motors , now called , I think , Safari 4x4 .

Re: immobilizer

Hi Jean

Had the same problem when my parrot ate my pendant, managed to get the car to L&R where they programmed a new one for me,  took all of 5 minI bought 2 just in case it happened again or I destroy one in the bush. Think you might have problems with insurance claims if the immobiliser is immoblised so to speak:)

Re: immobilizer

 Hi Gav

Another Landy breakdown - this time caused by a parrot gobbling the ignition key. Whats next ?

Cheers Dave
