Exhaust Gas Temp Monitor on TD5

Hi All, thinking of fitting one to my 99 110 Defender

Any suggestions on what type to fit. Been looking at the "Madman" range of hardware, any comments on this range of products.

General concensus is that Madman is the way to go.

Quality and flexibility.

You can measure a lot more than EGT - I would suggest include Voltage and Turbo Boost pressure: with the TD5 battery condition is crucial. Turbo boost is an oft neglected index of engine health.

Re: Exhaust Gas Temp Monitor on TD5

Thax for the comment Dave

Bought the EMS 2 hardware and fitted it this weekend, bit of drilling and tapping into the exhaust manifold and an adaptor plate on the coolant outlet from the block sorted out the exhaust temp and the coolant temp, coolant level was and eye opener, two stainless self tappers and tap washers drilled into the coolant reservoir connected to the hardware loom as apposed to a float switch,.... it works well.

Only prob Ive got is that my water temp reaches a max of 36 deg when at normal running temp, this is with a standard VDO 150 deg transducer, seems the scaling is a bit out on this one. Will check it out with the supplier when I go and buy the rest of the bits and pieces to get the oil temp and pressure working. Seems I need to have a banjo bolt tapped to 1/8th NPT to fit the transducer etc.

Otherwise Im happy with the look of the instrument, real aeronautical feel about it with the artificial horizon and pitch and roll features. Fits well into the Landy Dashboard.

Re: Exhaust Gas Temp Monitor on TD5

 Hi Gav

If you are interested we can do a diagnostic run with Nanocom - this will give an alternative coolant temp reading , which could be used to adjust/calibrate your new sensor.
